Beyond Republicans’ Anti-immigration Agenda

Though Congress can enact permanent immigration legislation, House Speaker John Boehner and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte have repeatedly pushed forward an anti-immigration agenda in the House to stop the expansion of the President’s 2012 executive action known as DACA program. The atmosphere is equally toxic in the Senate where every Republican senator voted in support of a failed effort to prevent new DACA applicants.
